Winter Wonderland

Had our first dumping of snow early in December which reached as far as London. I got up to go to work, and just before I ran out the door remembered to open the curtains and there was a good 5cm of snow on the roof! Decided boots were a good option that day! The snow lasted a couple of days, but was only a dusting for what was to come.
This week we had a whole lot more snow. It started snowing while I was at work last Friday and there was quite a big storm which only lasted a couple of hours. I went to Cheltenham for the weekend, in west England, thankfully the snow had stopped for the evening so got out there fine. But woke to about 10cm of snow on the Saturday morning, and it snowed heavily all day! Braved the weather to go for a short drive, but the weather was just too bad and the roads where quite dodgy so abounded that. Took a walk in the blizzard which was interesting! Everything was white as, looked very beautiful, but freezing! Caught up with some friends Saturday night for a meal, and went out to a local pub which had a skittles ally! ha so cute! Apparently it is quite common in country pubs. On Sunday it had stopped snowing, so we did a drive north to a little town called Tewkesbury, which has a lovely big Abby, the fields were just a blanket of snow, took a short walk as it was -6deg outside! Then headed up the local hill, slightly dodgy on the roads, but a great view over the town before it closed in again. Managed to get back to London on the bus Sunday night, but there have been loads of transport problems with roads, trains and buses this week due to snow, so was quite lucky to get back!

The snow has continued this week. Still managing to get into work, the trains are on reduced service but still running. So no snow days for me yet! Hopefully the snow will let up in the next couple of days. Will be in London for Christmas with friends, then hopefully (weather permitting!) taking the train to Belgium for a few days of chocolate, beer, mussels and nosing around :)

Merry Christmas to you all! Hope you have a great day with friends and family
Much love : D xxx
